The Pampa (De Pampa), Artis, illustration by Annemieke Bunjes - 2018
The Pampa is the name for a subtropical, natural grassland that is only found in South America. The pampa consists of fertile plains that differ, for example, in the degree of drought, and where all kinds of different animals occur. Artis was inspired by this to house all kinds of South American plant species such as the pampas grass and various animal species, such as the great anteater, vicuña, llama, mara, capybara, crested coot and South American tapir. The Pampa was opened in 2004 by Her Royal Highness Queen Maxima, then still a princess.
Artis, short for Natura Artis Magistra (Latin for "Nature is the Teacher of the Arts"), is a Zoo in the centre of Amsterdam.
It's the oldest Zoo in the Netherlands and one of the oldest Zoos of mainland Europe.
Same card I also sent to Nahoko in Japan (Ama-shi - near Nagoya) and travelled about 9217 km (5727 mi) in 10 days
