McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet (HN-406) from the Finnish Air Force at the RIAT 2019, RAF Fairford (United Kingdom)
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet is a twin-engined multirole fighter designed in the United States. Most of the Finnish Air Force's F/A-18C and D Hornet fleet is divided between Lapland and Karelia Air Commands, where they equip Fighter Squadrons 11 and 31 respectively, and form the service's primary striking power. The Hornet is operated in the training, air policing, and defensive counter-air roles in times of crisis.
The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the world's largest military air show, held annually over the third weekend in July,
usually at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England in support of The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
The show typically attracts a total of 150.000 to 160.000 spectators over the weekend.
