General Dynamics (Fokker) F-16BM Fighting Falcon (ET-197) from the Royal Danish Air Force at the RIAT 2019, RAF Fairford (United Kingdom)
The Royal Danish Air Force (Kongelige Danske Flyvevåben) is one of the original European Participating Air Forces (EPAF) who chose the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon as a replacement for the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. The base at Skrydstrup in southern Jutland now houses Denmark's entire fleet of Fighting Falcons, all F-16A/B Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) examples. A total of 30 operational examples are on strength at any one time, split between two squadrons. These will remain operational until 2020-2025 when they will be replaced by the
Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter).
The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the world's largest military air show, held annually over the third weekend in July,
usually at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England in support of The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
The show typically attracts a total of 150.000 to 160.000 spectators over the weekend.
