On Wednesday, 29 May 2019, Airbus celebrated its first five decades. The company was born at the Paris Air Show on 29 May 1969, when French transport minister Jean Chamant sat with German economics minister Karl Schiller to sign an agreement to launch the world's first wide-body twin-engine passenger jet, the A300. Since then, Airbus has become a leader in designing, manufacturing and delivering aerospace products, services and solutions to a customer base that spans the globe – with operations for commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence and space.
