Washington and Lee is a small, private, liberal arts university nestled between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains in Lexington, Virginia.
It is the ninth oldest institution of higher learning in the nation. Though its origin dates to 1749 as Augusta Academy it wasn't until George Washington in 1796 and general Robert E. Lee in 1865 gave the school its current name.
