The Royal Air Force (RAF) still operates many examples of the 'original' British Aerospace Hawk T1, not least through the type's use by No 100 Squadron at RAF Leeming, North Yorkshire. 'The Ton' is an historic unit, having been formed in 1917. Today it uses its fleet of Hawks to provide target facilities support, flying as aerial targets for other aircraft during training sorties, as well as exercise support and weapons systems officer training;
it also provides aircraft for use by the Joint Forward Air Controllers Training and Standards Unit.

The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the world's largest military air show, held annually over the third weekend in July,
usually at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England in support of The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
The show typically attracts a total of 150.000 to 160.000 spectators over the weekend.
