Kenya Crested Guineafowl at the Artis Royal Zoo (also known as Natura Artis Magistra), Amsterdam (Holland)

The Kenya Crested Guineafowl is a member of the Numididae, the guineafowl bird family. It is found in open forest, woodland and forest-savanna mosaics in Somalia to Tanzania, Zanzibar, and Tumbatu Island. The Kenya Crested Guineafowl's plumage is dark gray to black with whitish spots. Its most recognizable feature is the mop-like crest of black feathers on its head. The rest of the head and neck are bare with blue skin. There is red skin around the eye and on the neck, eyes are red, legs are dark brown to black. The females are slightly smaller than the males.
