French Tall Ship "Etoile du Roy" at the Sail In parade from IJmuiden to Amsterdam (North Sea Canal), Sail Amsterdam 2015 (Holland)

The Etoile du Roy (meaning the King's Star), initially called Grand Turk, is a three-masted sixth-rate frigate, designed to represent a generic Nelson-age warship, with her design greatly inspired by HMS Blandford (1741). The ship was built in Marmaris, Turkey, in 1996 to provide a replica of a frigate for the production of the ITV series adapted from the novels about Royal Navy officer Horatio Hornblower by Cecil Scott Forester. In the Hornblower TV series she was a stand in for the HMS Indefatigable. She also appeared as the French vessel Papillon in the same series. In 2010 the Grand Turk was purchased by Étoile Marine Croisières, a company owned by Bob Escoffier and was renamed Etoile du Roy. Nowadays the tall ship is used mainly in sailing events, for corporate or private charter, and for receptions in her spacious saloon or on her deck.
