Cockpit of the Antonov (PZL-Mielec) An-2R (HA-MHL) as used by Air Classic at the Museum Park of Aviation and Technology, Merseburg (Germany)
The Antonov An-2 (nickname: "Annushka" or "Annie") is a Soviet mass-produced single-engine biplane utility/agricultural aircraft designed and manufactured by the Antonov Design Bureau (now State Company) since 1946. The An-2 is used as a light utility transport, parachute drop aircraft, agricultural work and many other tasks suited to this large slow-flying biplane. Its slow flight and good field performance make it suited for short, unimproved fields, and some specialized variants have also been built for cold weather and other extreme environments.
The An-2R (Polish: Rolniczy or Agricultural) is a PZL-Mielec manufactured agricultural variant with tank for 1300 kg of liquid or powdered chemicals.
