General Asjes has accumulated 19.000 flying hours in 160 different types of aircraft over 52 years of active flying. Among his many military decorations, Asjes received his nation's highest award for valour, the Knight 4th class of the Military William Order (MWO.4) in Juli 1950.

Heije Schaper (1906-1996) was a Dutch soldier and naval war pilot. In 1940 Schaper, who was trained as a pilot in the Dutch Navy,
managed to escape with a Fokker T.VIII seaplane to England where he joined the 320th Dutch Squadron RAF and performed reconnaissance and bombing missions. On one of these missions, Schapers Lockheed Hudson was shot down above the Dutch island of Terschelling on 30 May 1942 during an attack on German ships. Schaper survived the crash and was taken prisoner. He was imprisoned in Stalag Luft III, where he helped with the preparations for an escape which was later filmed as "The Great Escape". After the Second World War he became Adjudant-General to
Her Majesty Queen Wilhelmina and the ONLY 4-star general the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) ever had.
He became Secretary of Defence from 1966 until 1967. Among his many military decorations, Schaper received his
nation's highest award for valour, the Knight 4th class of the Military William Order (MWO.4) in November 1940.
