The drainage mill "De Hadel" was rebuild at the Zaanse Schans in 1969. It dates from the late 19th century and was used to drain a polder, an area of reclaimed land. The windmill’s sails work a paddle wheel that moves the water. It was originally located in Midwoud, a village in Noord-Holland.
