The crowning feature of the terraces on the slope known as the "Linderbichl" is a round Greek temple
with a larger than life-sized marble figure of "Venus", formed after a painting by Antoine Watteau
(The Embarkation for Cythera), flanked by two putti. A theatre was originally planned for this site.
Schloss Linderhof (Linderhof Palace) is a "Königliche Villa" (Royal Villa) in southwest Bavaria near Ettal Abbey, Germany.
It is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one which he lived to see completed.
