The STS "Dar Młodzieży" is a Polish Sailing Training Ship for the Merchant Navy Academy of Gdynia (also known as Maritime University of Gdynia), designed by Zygmunt Choreń. The ship was launched in November 1981 at the Gdańsk Shipyard (Poland) and commissioned for service in July 1982 at Gdynia (an important seaport of Gdańsk Bay), thus replacing her forerunner "Dar Pomorza". This ship is a prototype of a class of six, the following five slightly-differing units were built subsequently by the same shipyard for the merchant fleet of the former Soviet Union. Her sister ships are Mir, Druzhba, Pallada, Khersones and Nadezhda. The STS "Dar Młodzieży" is especially built to train the cadets of the Polish marine and to win a lot of Tall Ship Races. The English name of this ship is "The Gift of Youth", appropriate since it was partly financed by the gifts of young school-children.
