#5366 Postcard ES-539735 received from Spain
This postcard (ES-539735) I received from Spain (Valencia) and was send by Rafa.
Postcard details: San Sebastián - Regata de Traineras (MANIPEL), travelled about 1521 km (945 mi) in 8 days
Traineras are traditional Cantabrian rowboats used by fishermen, their origin lost in the mists of time. Somewhere along the line, they became less used for fishing than for racing, and trainera races are a popular feature of summer in towns all along the northern Spanish coast. The La Concha trainera regatta is one of the most important, held the first two Sundays of September since 1879, off San Sebastián's central city beach. It fills the beach, promenades, and other areas of the water's edge from Mount Urgull around Mount Igueldo, with spectators, many cheering on their favourite teams, and of course afterwards, many if not most of them pouring into the Old Town to the tapas bars, cafés, and watering holes,
lending an especially festive air to the city throughout the evening.
