Formation of Panavia Tornado GR4 (ZA607 / EB-X) from the Royal Air Force,
Avro 683 Lancaster B1 (PA474 / AR-L / VN-T) from the RAF BBMF (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) and
Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II (ZM145) from the Royal Air Force at the RIAT 2018, RAF Fairford (United Kingdom)
This unique RAF formation was a once in lifetime opportunity to commemorate the Tornado's service for the very last time alongside the inspirational F-35 Lightning. It was the first appearance of a British F-35 at the airshow and a chance for future generations to see the innovative aircraft. The flypast formation was designed to celebrate the pioneers of air power during the 75th Anniversary of the Dambuster raid whilst also looking forward in the spirit of innovation to the future of 617 Squadron as they fly the F-35 Lightning.
The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is the world's largest military air show, held annually over the third weekend in July,
usually at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England in support of The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
The show typically attracts a total of 150.000 to 160.000 spectators over the weekend.
The 2018 Air Tattoo will reflect the 100th anniversary of the RAF with a commemoration
and celebration of a century of service to the United Kingdom and its allies.
